'molly': {'received':'May, 2009','fee':'$275','age':'3 years',
fosternotes: 'Molly arrived at my house around June 11th. The first couple of weeks were very rocky around my house as my 9-year-old male Saint, Haas, and she were fighting for who was the boss of the house. Haas made it very clear that he was the boss. Since then things have been much calmer around the household.
If you are human, Molly loves you she is so excited to meet new people and loves the attention. We are working on not jumping on people and trying to kiss them when they walk through the door. This seems to be primarily with new visitors. People she has met before she tends not to be as jumpy with. She has a lot of high energy and does knock over little kids in an attempt to lick their faces so we are working sitting and being calm when visitors enter the house. After about the first 15 minutes of this, she loses interest and goes and does her own thing.
Molly is a sweet dog. Once she knows you she is pretty well mannered. She is house trained, not destructive and knows sit, down, come and we are working on stay. She is strong so when we take walks and jogs she has a haltie on. She is okay on a leash and getting better. She is a very smart and curious dog. She figured out how to bounce my spring loaded screen door to the back yard to let herself back into the house. She likes to stand up on the back fence and look over into the alley to bark at the dogs that go by. She will find any holes or areas of your fence that are not secure. We had one mishap where she managed to make a hole in my wire fence and get through to my neighbors yard because there was a cat there. So far, Molly is not cat friendly. She thinks they are chew toys. The cat she went after was fine and the hole in the fence has been patched. She also likes to chase squirrels but ignores birds for the most part. I have a fox that sometimes shows up at dusk and sits on my car in the driveway. Haas is used to this and doesn\'t even bat an eye at it. Molly on the other hand goes absolutely nuts and barks like mad.
Some interesting things I am discovering about Molly as the summer has progressed. I think she would really like to have a crate to be in. I don\'t crate because my house is too small and Haas and my former dog Daisy who passed away this year did not like small spaces. Molly likes to sleep behind my chaise in the living room or in my closet in my bedroom. She is terrified of any kind of fireworks, muffler backfire, popping/gun shot noises, and thunder. She spent all of 4th of July hiding in my closet. When we were on a jog one morning a car went by and the muffler did a back fire and she turned around and dragged me even with her halti on all the way back home and wanted to hide inside. This was about 4 blocks. Molly loves water! I have never had a saint who wanted to do more than wade in a stream and neither of them played/play in sprinklers. Molly loves when I have the sprinklers on and she can go run and play in them and drink out of themā€¦ She bounds around like crazy and gets all wet. It\'s fun to watch she is really funny when she does it. She likes to be brushed and will let you brush her and work on her fur.
She likes to eat plants especially strawberries. I have a garden out back and Molly has managed to eat most of my ripe strawberries before I can beat her to them. She hasn\'t sampled the tomatoes but she has sampled my raspberry plants and my oregano and basil plants.
Molly seems to really like a set routine and has something to say about it when it is disrupted. Since it is summer and hot in the evenings, I get up early before work during the week to get the dogs out. My routine is that I get up and take Molly for about a mile to mile and a half jog and then come back bring her home and take Haas out for a walk as my cool down. Both dogs know the order of how this works then I get ready for work, give them breakfast and head out the door. I had vacation last week and did not get up early to jog/walk dogsā ...and boy. Did I hear about it from Molly! First she would start pacing the bedroom when the alarm clock didn\'t go off. Then she starts with a bit of a light bark and then the big bark of, "hey! Get up! Why are you not taking me for my jog!ā" She was so disgusted that I didn\'t move from my bed last week despite her barking that she leaped on the bed (first time that has happened and all I could do was laugh in surprise) and barked and then licked me profusely until I got up and got ready to take her out. So beware of the patterns you start with Molly she will call you on deviating from it!
Last night my friends brought over one of Haas\'s fur pals, Coco the chocolate pointer... That did not go well. Molly is still giving very mixed signals and tried to snap at Coco while wagging her tail and running up to her to sniff her. Molly was not well behaved at all and that was disappointing. ',
